A log during the boot of a Nexus 5k gave me the chance to learn something very interesting for Cisco Nexus history.
In particular, I noticed the next line during the boot. The “nuova” word triggered my interest for investigation.
“sprom_drv_init_platform: nuova_i2c_register_get_card_index”
I found something really interesting that I didn’t know.
Nuova was the name of the company which designed the original Nexus 5k platform. Cisco re-branded the Nuova switch as the Nexus 5000 series, joining Cisco’s Nexus 7000! The acquisition of the Nuova by Cisco completed ten years ago and the owner of Nuova was an ex-Cisco employee (again)
